This feature allows the User to provide the system with targeting data that:
- Cannot be systematized or unified;
- Is subject to frequent changes;
- Cannot be quantitatively limited.
The system allows specifying values for custom targets in two ways:
- By entering a single value: After entering a value and pressing “Enter,” the specified value will appear in the area on the right of the input field, where it can be deleted at any time.
-
By importing a prepared file with a list of values: To ensure the system correctly recognizes all values from the file, several requirements must be followed:
- The imported file must be in .csv or .txt format.
- Each new value must be written on a new line.
If an error occurs during the import, try importing a smaller file. The number of files that can be uploaded is unlimited.
Categories of targets that fall under this feature include:
- Geo and Super Geo. You need to upload a text/plain or .csv file containing locations specified either by their names or by coordinates.
- Ad placements (websites).
- Pages (specific pages of websites): Note that if the same site is specified in both “Pages” and “Placements”, targeting will apply only to the specified pages, ignoring the site-wide setting.
- App Bundles.
- IP addresses (unique identifier of a device on the Internet): Targeting settings based on IP addresses are considered advanced settings. Please consult with your Manager. You can exclude certain IP addresses from participating in auctions for a campaign independently.
- Contextual targeting – use topic-related keywords to target relevant page content, placements, or audience segments. This targeting is based on contextual keywords, not search queries.
Targeting settings use the logical AND operator. Example: If you select Geo: Moscow, Site Topics: Business, and Placement: avito.ru, your ad will only respond to requests matching ALL conditions:
- User location: Moscow
- Site topic: Business
- Placement: avito.ru
A single auction cannot target both domains and apps simultaneously (even if they belong to the same brand, e.g., avito.ru and the Avito app).
Naming Conventions:
- Placements – avito.ru, auto.ru, yandex.ru (no slashes, www, or http).
- Website Pages – Full URL: https://smartpress.by/news/article-title/.
-
App Bundles:
– Google Play: com.pixel.art.coloring.color.number
– Third-party stores: ru.litres.android.readfree
– Apple App Store: 563291345 (ID) or Car Vs. Robots Demolition 2016 (name) -
Contextual targeting – specify topic-related keywords to match relevant pages, placements, or audience segments. For example:
auto
test drive
electric vehicle
car dealership
Tip: Verify domain/app/page names by copying them exactly as displayed in your platform’s statistics.
All the mentioned categories of targets can be added to the campaign participation settings in auctions or as exclusion criteria, preventing the campaign from participating in auctions. Be careful, as the exclusion setting takes precedence: if the same value is added as a criterion for allowing a campaign to participate in the auction and at the same time is listed in the exclusions, the campaign will not be allowed to participate in the auction.
